SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC48: Ink on Embossing Folders

Good morning!  Just when I think fall is year, we get another shot of heat and humidity for last little blast of summer.  I'm ready to embrace fall so I'm ready for the fall weather to arrive and decided to use some fall thoughts for today's card.  The SSINKspiration blog is having another technique challenge today, and this is a technique I used quite a bit last year and love it, stamping on embossing folders, it's such a great way to add some detail behind your embossed image for extra fun.

I started with Sahara Sand cardstock for the cardbase and then used Old Olive for the cardfront.  On this piece I started by taking the Tree Rings background stamp and stamped directly on the Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder using Early Espresso Ink (note, usually with the dynamic folders I spritz the cardstock before embossing to get a little extra depth to the embossing but since I was using ink I didn't want it to bleed so I skipped the water and still had a nice result.

The greeting is from the Badges and Banners stamp set and was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Island Indigo cardstock and then cut out with the coordinating Badge Punch.  I also cut a circle out of Sahara Sand cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Framelits for a good backdrop for all the embellishments.

To add to the fall feeling I used the leaf dies from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and cut the larger leaf out of Cajun Craze cardstock and the smaller leaf using the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (I also sponged around the edge with Early Espresso ink).  The final touch, a small bow using the 1/4" Copper Trim.

I love the look of the tree rings behind the leaves which goes along with the die cut pieces, it adds a touch of masculine to a die I would normally think is a bit more feminine.  Make sure to check out all the other cards the design team created using this weeks challenge and then play along, can't wait to see what you come up with.
