Fab Friday Sketch Challenge #FabFri157: Part of My Story

Good morning!

With our crazy schedule lately it seems like I haven't had much time in the studio, I need to change that as my crafting time really helps reduce my stress and calms me, anyone else feel that way?  Today I'm playing along with the Fab Friday sketch challenge to make this fun card that mixes Sale-a-bration and Annual catalog goodies.

I started with Petal Pink cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Gray Granite cardstock as a mat for the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper (this was my first time using this paper and you have to think beyond baby because this paper has some great patterns.  I used the Big Shot and the Eclectic Layers Thinlits to cut the geometric shape in the background so the cardstock can peak through as my design element along the right side on the sketch, just to change things up.

For the main stamped image I used the Part of My Story stamp set (a Sale-a-bration freebie) and used my Stampin' Write Marker's to color in the stamp before stamping on Whisper White Cardstock.  Next I cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits and sponged all over with the Gray Granite ink.  As a mat for the circle I took one of the Colored Doilies and flipped it over and sponged on the back using Petal Pink ink.  Dimensionals were used to pop the circle up from the doily mat.

The finishing touch on the card is the heart which I made my using another one of the thinlits in the Eclectic Thinlits set (no this piece only embosses, doesn't cut out, but it was really easy to cut out with Paper Snips and then I attached little pearls on all the line intersections before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

I love the colors and textures on this card that really play against the different geometric shapes, a fun sketch for sure.

Paper Craft Crew Theme Challenge #PCC328: Incredible Like You

Good morning!

While we all love to impress with crazy, over the top cards we also have those times when we need something quick and simple and they still mean just as much to the receiver.  This week the Paper Craft Crew has a fun theme challenge where we're all embracing this simple stamping approach.  Now I have to admit, I think I spent more time on this making sure not to add a lot, versus my cards that have lots of layers, embellishments, etc. Keeping it simple is an art in itself.

Today's card uses Whisper White Thick cardstock for the cardbase and then has a piece of Basic Black cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.

I used the Incredible Like You stamp set as it's got lots of wonderful greetings and images that really helps you get a "bang for your buck".  I started by stamping the striped image along the left side using Flirty Flamingo ink.  Next I stamped the flower stem which a two step stamp using Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive ink.  The greeting was stamped in Basic Black ink.

The top of the flower is also two step stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White paper using Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo ink (the images in this stamp set have some great detail that really helps dress it up).  After stamping I cut the flower out using Paper Snips and then attached it with dimensionals.  The final touch, of course a little bling, so I added a single rhinestone as the dot on the "i" in the greeting.

The black is a perfect way to offset the white and colors of this card and I love how it turned out, even if I didn't use the Big Shot, ribbons, etc.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using simple stamping and we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #309: Amazing Life

Good morning!

Sometimes you want to send a card for a special occasion and sometimes you want to send one just to let someone know you're thinking about theme.  Today I used this weeks Hand Stamped Sentiments Color challenge to make this card perfect to when you need a card, just because.

I started with Soft Seafoam cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Highland Heather cardstock as a mat for the Whisper White cardfront.  This card using the Amazing Life stamp set and it has a wide variety of images,  I used the corner scroll image to stamp in each of the corners of the cardfront using Soft Seafoam ink.

The main stamped image is from the same stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black ink on Pool Party cardstock and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals framelits.  I used the same framelits to cut the large scalloped oval out of Basic Black cardstock and offset it.  The greeting oval was attached with dimensionals and I finished off the card with a bow tied with some Highland Heather ribbon from the SAB Organdy Ribbon pack.

I love how using these big, bold greetings are perfect for being the stars of your project without a lot of fuss.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this color combination and we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #PCC327: Part of My Story

Good morning!

It's hard to believe it's the middle of February and we're half way through Sale-a-bration.  This is my favorite time of year as I love earning exclusive, free products for things I was planning on buying anyway.  This week I'm playing with the Part of My Story stamp set, which is a SAB freebie and has some great greetings and using it for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.

I started with Whisper White Thick cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black cardstock as a mat for the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.

Next I cut a circle out of Highland Heather cardstock with the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and then embossed it with the Lace Dynamic Embossing Folder.  In between the two circles I added another coordinating pattern of the DSP as well as a piece of Lemon Lime Twist 1/4" Ombre Ribbon.

For the greeting I used my Stampin' Write Markers to color direct to the stamp to add all the colors and then stamped on Whisper White cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits and attached it with dimensionals.  For the final details I added some Basic Black Faceted Dots on the DSP and then cut a little butterfly out of Basic Black cardstock using the Big Shot and Well Written Framelits

All the different textures and elements really help dress this card up while letting the greeting be the star, just what I was going for.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team shared for inspiration and we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

Broadway Bound Birthday: Aidan's 14!!

Good morning!

Today is a special day in our house, our "baby" turns 14 (really how is that possible??)  I've resolved myself to the fact that I'm officially the shortest one in my family but I still remember like yesterday bringing him home from the hospital.  Of course I had to make him a special card and I knew the Broadway Bound Products Suite would be perfect!

I started with Granny Apple Green cardstock for the cardbase and then added Basic Black for the cardfront which was embossed with the Big Shot and Simple Stipes Embossing Folder.  The Broadway Bound Speciality Designer Series Paper has so many fun foil patterns I added it as the patterned piece and wrapped a piece of Granny Apple Green 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon around the DSP.

Next I used the Broadway Birthday stamp set to stamp the "Make a" on Granny Apple Green cardstock and cut it out with the Classic Label Punch.  The "Wish" was cut out of Gold Glimmer Paper using the coordinating Broadway Lights Framelits and the little party hat is one of the patterns in the DSP and there's a coordinating die that cuts it out perfectly.

To finish off the card I used the new It's Your Birthday stamp set (from the Occasions catalog) and after stamping in Granny Apple Green ink I cut it out with the Big Shot and Rectangle Stitched Framelits and used dimensionals to attach it after sponging around the edge with Basic Black ink.

I showed hubby the card and his comment was "WOW, lots of glitter!"  I said yes because my kiddo loves the glitter just like his mama!!  We're going to spend the weekend celebrating which should be lots of fun.
