SSINKspiration Red, White, and Blue: Itty Bitty Greetings

Good morning and Happy Memorial Day!  I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend and are able to take time to celebrate and honor those who have given their lives for our freedoms.  Today the SSINKspiration team wanted to celebrate this day with a red, white, and blue themed post.  Since it's been crazy hot this weekend I decided to make this fun patriotic themed cool drink to celebrate the day.

I used Pacific Point cardstock for the cardbase and then added some Real Red cardstock as a mat for the black and white DSP from the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper Pack (retiring).  I wrapped a piece of Pacific Point 1/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon (retiring) around the cardfront and then attached a small bow.

For the main image I used the Coffee Café stamp set and stamped the cut in Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut it out with the coordinating Coffee Cup Framelits Dies (remember this set and framelits are carrying over to the new catalog but the bundle savings are only available through the end of May).  I made my layered drink by sponging the different layers using Pacific Point and Real Red ink using the Stampin' Sponge.  I used dies from the same stamp set to cut out the whipped topping, vellum for the cup top and then make a little striped straw.

To finish of the card I used the Big Shot and die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die (retiring) to cut the little strip of stars using Pacific Point cardstock and then added a piece of Gold Foil cardstock behind to make the starts gold.  The greeting is from the new Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set and was stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock and then punched out with the Classic Label Punch, sponged around the edge with Pacific Point ink and then attached it to the cardfront with Mini Dimensionals.

This drink looks yummy enough to drink and is sure to help cool you down in this year.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing as inspiration for any crafting you may be doing over the holiday weekend.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge #FabFri137: Confetti Celebration

Good morning!  This time of year is full of celebrations, between graduation, start of summer, birthdays, etc. we seem to be celebrating a lot.  So it was that theme of celebrating that I embraced for this weeks Fab Friday sketch challenge and make this quick and easy card!

I started with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper (retiring), love this watermelon print.

For the greeting I used the Confetti Celebration stamp set (retiring) and stamped the greeting in Basic Black ink on Peekaboo Peach cardstock (retiring In Color) and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that was punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch for a fun element.

To finish off the card I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch to punch out a small balloon with another pattern from the same DSP pack.  I used a tied a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine around the bottom of the balloon and then attached the balloon to the cardfront with a dimensional so the balloon looks like it's floating away.

This card is super easy but perfect to help celebrate whatever is special today and it doesn't take a lot of tools or special techniques for so any level of crafter can enjoy making it.  Make sure you have this designer series paper because even though it's retiring next week it has lots of fabulous prints you will want to use all summer long.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challeng #290: Lovely Inside and Out

Good morning!  Today it's time for a color challenge over on the Hand Stamped Sentiments blog and we're mixing a retiring color (Marina Mist) with some classics that are carrying forward.  I decided to use today's card to show some fun products that are retiring along with the colors to make sure you have these in your stampin' stash for future projects.

I started with Old Olive cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Marina Mist cardstock as a mat for the cardfront that is a piece of designer series paper from the Eastern Palace Speciality Designer Series Paper (retiring).  I used one of the stamps from the Lovely Inside and Out (retiring) to stamp the dots on the bottom corner of the DSP using Rich Razzleberry ink.

Next I took a piece of Gold Foil cardstock and used the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits and Lovely Words Thinlits Dies (retiring) to cut the friend image and used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach the piece to the cardfront.

To finish of the greeting I stamped the words, also using the Lovely Inside and Out (retiring) to stamp the "for a great" on Marina Mist cardstock and then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch.  I sponged around the edges before attaching to the cardfront.  The final touch on the card is a double bow tied with Old Olive Baker's Twine (retiring).

This a nice and mailable card that is perfect to let a know you're just thinking of them when there's no special occasion, and don't we all love those?  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing using this color combo and then we would love for you to play along with us and share what you create.

SSINKspiration Technique Challenge #SSINKTC52 Sponging Sunsets: Enjoy Life

Good morning!  What an enjoyable weekend spending time with my little guy and friends.  Today over on the SSINKspiration blog it's time for this month's technique challenge and we're using the sponging sunset technique, which is easy and fun to use.

I started by making my main focal point using Glossy White cardstock, Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach, and Cajun Craze ink, along with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that I had punched a hole in the center using a 2 1/4" Circle Punch.  I sponged the sun first using the cardstock with the circle cut out and then switched and added my circle piece over the yellow sponging and started with the Peekaboo Peach and then added Cajun Craze around the edges and blending in until I was happy with the look.

Next I took the new Enjoy Life stamp set (this set is awesome) and using Tuxedo Memento Black ink I stamped the lady (I held the stamp on the cardstock for a couple of extra seconds just to make sure I got good saturation on the stamp).  Then I matted the cardfront with Basic Black cardstock and attached it to a cardbase that's Daffodil Delight.

Next I used some Whisper White 1/4" Organza Ribbon (retiring) to wrap around the bottom and attached the bow.  The greeting is from the same stamp set and is my favorite!  It's stamped in Basic Black ink on Cajun Craze cardstock and then cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits before attaching it with dimensionals.

I had a lot of fun with this card and designed it for a very special friend so I can't wait to send it out.  Make sure to check out the other design team cards using this technique (such a great variety) and then we would love for you to join us and play along with this technique and share what you create.
