SSINKspiration All Things Thanks: Daisy Delight

Good morning!  What a change a week makes around here, we're having some much appreciated cooler weather and Aidan is off for a week with his grandparents so it's pretty quiet around the house (hoping that will equal a little more fun crafting time but I may also take advantage and get a little more sleep so we'll see).  Today the SSINKspiration designers are sharing all things thanks and so I have a really fun thank you card I made a while back and haven't been able to share.  I was so excited to see glossy white cardstock return in this catalog as there are some great techniques you can do.  I love the look of emboss resist so that's what I went with.

I started with Peekaboo Peach cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black for a mat to the cardfront.  On this card the cardfront is where everything is.  I started with a piece of Glossy White cardstock and stamped the different flower images from the Daisy Delight stamp set using Versamark ink and then heat embossed with the Heat Tool and White Embossing Powder.  Since this stamp set is a two-step stamp I actually embossed each piece individually (stems, flowers, etc.) to make sure I didn't smear anything.

Next I used a Stampin' Sponge and Peekaboo Peach ink to rub ink all over the bottom left side of the card until I got the right effect.  I used a Sponge Dauber and some Calypso Coral ink to add a little detail to the flower tops as well.  I really love how the embossing really pops once you apply the color.  To finish the flower I added small rhinestones to the center of each flower and then added some Basic Black and Peekaboo Peach Baker's Twine around the bottom of the card.  The bow has two pieces of each color of baker's twine so it's a really substantial element.  The final touch was to stamp the greeting in Basic Black ink (I used the Tuxedo Black ink and held it just a little longer on the cardfront so I got a nice clean image and let it dry, takes a little longer to try on the glossy cardstock.)

This is a great technique where you don't need a lot of supplies or time but you get a wonderful effect that is sure to impress.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing, I'm sure you'll find just the inspiration you're looking for on your next thank you card.

Christmas in July: Carols of Christmas Blog Hop

Good evening!  So I have some special fun today, it's always fun to celebrate Christmas in July as we're half way to the Christmas holidays (crazy, I know!) so we're having a fun blog hop using the new Carols of Christmas bundle that is coming out August 1 (ahead of the annual catalog).  This morning I had a fun card class where we got a head start on our holiday cards using the fabulous new Carols of Christmas stamp set and coordinating framelits that will be in the upcoming Holiday catalog, but we have the opportunity to purchase these products, or the bundle, this month to get a head start on some holiday fun!  This is one of the cards we made in today's class.

We started with Whisper White Thick cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Basic Black cardstock as a mat and the took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamp using the Sheet Music Background Stamp using Whisper White Craft Ink.  Next I took a piece of Basic Black cardstock and created a frame outline using the Big Shot and Layering Squares Framelits.

For the stamped greeting I used the Carols of Christmas stamp set and colored in the greeting using Stampin' Write Markers and stamped on Whisper White cardstock and then matted it with Real Red cardstock.  Before attaching the greeting I added a piece of Silver 3/8" Silver Trimmed Ribbon (absolutely love this ribbon) to peak out from the edge.  The final detail was to stamp the poinsettia using Real Red ink and the holly using Emerald Envy ink and cut both pieces out with the coordinating framelits.  I used a Mini Dimensional to attach the poinsettia so it pops up and then added a small rhinestone to the center of the flower.

This card has some of my favorite elements and I absolutely love it.  I've had the opportunity to play with this new bundle for the past month and I can't stop playing with it, it's so great and you will love it as well!  Now it's time to continue on the hop and check out all the other great creations using these new products (and remember you can order yours starting August 1).

SSINKspiration Anything But a Card: Disney Cruise Treats!

Good morning!  This summer is flying by, can't believe we leave on our cruise in a few short weeks.  I've mentioned before that we like to give little gifts to our servers and stateroom hosts who always make our trip so magical so for today's SSINKspiration blog sharing anything but a card I decided to share one of the treats I've made for the cruise.

I used the Popcorn Box Thinlits and cut the box out of Real Red cardstock and then used the Burlap stamp set to stamp some texture all over the box.  I used the 2 1/4" and 3/4" Circle Punches to punch the pieces for my Mickey head and then since this is a cruise I used the Seaside Embossing  Folder to add some waves.  I used the scallop trim die (in the same thinlit set) and some Silver Foil cardstock to cut some rick-rack pieces to decorate the top of the box.  The greeting is from the One Big Meaning stamp set and was stamped in Real Red on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Classic Label Punch (I did sponge around the edges with Basic Black ink) and then attached the greeting with dimensionals.

To finish off the treats I used one of our gusseted cello bags, filled it with chocolates and then tied it with some Silver 3/8" Metallic Edge Ribbon (absolutely love this ribbon!!)

I haven't decided if I'm just going to make more of this same design for the gifts or do different one's (a lot will depend on my ability to pack these to arrive at the ship safely) but I love how cute this is and know little treats are always appreciated for the crew who work so hard!

TGIF Theme Challenge Meets Proverbial Stampers Sketch Challenge: Summer Birthday Fun!

Good morning!  Oh my what a change in the weather, a break in the heat in the humidity this week makes one happy lady and nothing to feel blue about here.  Today I decided to play along with the TGIF challenges theme challenge which is "Summertime Blues" and I decided to mix things up with shades of blue and one of my new favorite framelits (who doesn't just relax when you see a beach chair and cool drink?) and decided to combine it with the Proverbial Stampers sketch challenge for double the fun!!

I started with Thick Whisper White cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Soft Sky cardstock.  Next I took a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Polka Dot Basics Embossing folder.  I added a strip of Silver Foil cardstock to help anchor all my elements.

Next I took a piece of designer series paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP pack and matted it with Melon Mambo cardstock.  For the main element I used the Big Shot and Seasonal Layers Framelits to cut out this fun beach chair out of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the yummy drink using the Colorful Season stamp set (don't forget you can buy the stamp set and coordinating framelits as a bundle and save 10% and you will want both these items for projects all year long) and then cut it out with the coordinating framelit and attached it with a dimensional.




The greeting is from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set and was stamped in Melon Mambo ink on Whisper White cardstock and then cut out with the Classic Label Punch (it's become my go to punch for greetings and I love how I can tailor the size based on how long my greeting is.

I have always thought that people who have summer birthdays are so lucky, nice weather and vacations what a great way to ring in a birthday and this card definitely helps someone celebrate their birthday with all the classic feelings of summer.
