Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #214: Big News

Happy Monday!  Part of the fun this past weekend was attending a wedding for a dear friend.  It was up in a part of Maryland I haven't been to before and despite the crazy heavy rain most of the day we saw some beautiful sites and the wedding was lovely!  Of course I had to make a special card for my friends special day so I decided to use the Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge as the inspiration for the wedding card and drew on the colors at the wedding as well.

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I used the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framlits to cut out circles of Whisper White cardstock and Gold Fancy Designer Foil Vellum (using the heart print) and then used a paper cutter to trim off parts of the circle once I attached the circles to the cardfront.

For the greeting I used the Big News stamp set and stamped it with Night of Navy ink on Crumb Cake cardstock before cutting it out with the Big Shot and the new Lots of Labels Framelits and then attached it with dimensionals.  Of course I need some bling so I started with a nice big bow using the Gold 5/8" Satin Ribbon.  I stamped some flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set using Night of Navy Ink on Marina Mist cardstock and then punched them out with the Petite Petals Punch.  I used a bone folder to curl up the petals of the flowers before attaching it to the cardfront with glue dots and then added a medium pearl to the center of each flower.

This sketch was perfect for this card and let me add just the right amount of embellishments add lots of texture and dimension and really make this card a WOW card, love it!!!

Can You Case it? Design Team - Color Challenge CYCI #76

Good morning!  The rain is finally stopping, WOW what an interesting day yesterday!  Today Aidan and are up and out of the house early to volunteer at a local triathlon, this is our first time working a race and we’re both excited to cheer on the racers and a triathlon is such an unusual event, should be fun.  Of course since it’s Sunday I have a card for your for this weeks Can You Case It? Sketch challenge.  We were given a color challenge to use the new 2015-2017 In Colors and I kind of misread the instructions and thought we had to use all 5 so I made it harder for myself than I needed to but used all new products which was lots of fun.

I started with Tip Top Toupe cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of the Color Me Irresistible Speciality Designer Series Paper (love this type of embossed paper since I can color however I want!). I used sponges to sponge the different In Colors on the paper to create a type of rainbow and then matted it with Whisper White cardstock so it really popped against the cardbase.

For the greeting I used the new Hostess Set, A Whole Lot of Lovey and used Stampin’ Write Markers to color the greeting in before stamping on Whisper White cardstock.  I used the Big Shot and the Circle Collection Framelits to cut out the greeting and then matted it with a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock that was punched out with the 2 ½” Circle Punch and attached to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a knot I tied using the Tip Top Toupe  1” Dotted Lace Trim (actually double knotted it so the knot was bigger) and attached it to the cardfront with a couple of glue dots.

I love how the white rain drops pop against the colors in the background and the greeting is a soft contrast which is so pretty.  Make sure to check out the other design team creations for further inspiration and then come play along, we love to see what others create.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge & SSINK Friday Favorities: Endless Birthday Wishes

Good morning!  It’s Friday and we’re looking forward to another eventful weekend, plus they’re expecting rain starting tonight through Sunday morning so that should make things interesting.  Aidan and I are also volunteering at our first race, a triathlon, Sunday morning so it will be fun to see races from the other side and help cheer on some fabulous athletes, we’re both very excited.  It’s time for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and I’ve also combined this with the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Friday favorites post.  Not only do I love the new Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack but the particular piece I used has ice cream and cupcakes (who of my favorite foods, yum!!!)  for a super fun birthday card.

I started with Pool Party for the cardbase and then added a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of the Cherry on Top DSP and matted it with Cucumber Crush cardstock.  For a fun decoration along the top I cut a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock using the Big Shot and Mini Treat Bag Thinlit piece (you know this thinlit is on sale this week as a Weekly Deal, don’t miss out!!!) and added some Silver Glimmer Paper (also a Weekly Deal this week) behind the cut out hearts and attached it to cardfront with dimensionals.

For the greeting I used the Endless Birthday Wishes stamp set and stamped the greeting (love that you can build your own greeting with this set) and then punched it out with the 1 3/8” Circle Punch and matted it with Crushed Curry cardstock that was punched out with the 1 ¾” Scallop Circle Punch and attached with dimensionals.  I needed a little more bling (of course!!) so I added a couple pieces of Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim for a fun accent.

I made this for a special young lady and I think she’ll like it (can’t share more details until after she receives the card).  You can check out the other design team cards for further ideas and their favorite items and then play along (if we really get all this rain it will be perfect indoor crafting time).

GoDivas New Catalog Swap: Friendly Wishes

Good morning!  WOW, this heat is crazy, summer definitely wants to make sure we know she’s here and ready for fun (it’s times like this I appreciate getting up really early to work out so it’s a little better).  So we’ve been enjoying all the fabulous new pretties from recently released catalog I thought I would share a card I made for a swap group I’m in GoDivas.  This is an amazing group of demonstrators and we swap at the release of new catalogs, events, etc. which is a great way to have lots of wonderful samples to show using the new products.  This was my first time swapping with the group so I was more than a little nervous but I thought I would share the card I used for the swap, it’s really fun.

I started with Cucumber Crush for the cardbase and then layered a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  Next I cut out several circles using the new Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack as well as a circle in Tip Top Toupe.  The greeting is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set and was stamped on Whisper White cardstock and then punched along the top with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.  I also added a piece of Cherry on Top Washi Tape to the bottom of my tag and a little piece of Watermelon Wonder 1” Dotted Lace Trim was tied to the top of the tag before attaching it to the cardfront with dimensionals.

I love the Cherry on Top Product Suite, it’s so fun and cheery, and you should check out all the prints, so many options!!

SSINK Masculine Monday: Boys will be Boys

Good morning!  Did enjoy celebrating all the fabulous Father's in your life yesterday?  We had a great time, which included relaxing which is always a hit for my hubby.  Today we're extending the appreciation for guys since it's Masculine Monday over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog.  Since I've been making lots of cards recently for the older guys in our lives I thought it was time for a card for the younger guys, which is always fun.

For today's card I started with Daffodil Delight for the cardbase and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was stamped with the new, Writing Notes background stamp (I had inked it so I could recreate how notebook paper is colored.   The greeting is from the Boys will be Boys stamp set and was stamped in Cucumber Crush ink.

For the main stamped image I stamped the Legos from the Boys will be Boys stamp set in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink and was colored in with Stampin' Write Markers.  Then I cut out the image using the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits and made a mat using the 2" Circle Punch and some Daffodil Delight cardstock.  To add a little punch of color I added two flags, using the new Banner Triple Punch, one using the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack and a second in Cucumber Crush cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot an Arrows Embossing Folder.

This card is so fun and simple that's just right and I love combination of these stamp sets, won't be the last time I use them.  The designers are also sharing some additional cards for inspiration on masculine cards so go check them out!

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #75

Happy Sunday!  This weekend it’s been all about dad, we like to really spoil Chris so we’ve been having lots of family time and are planning the fun to continue today (I love when we have an excuse to not have lots of plans and just go with the flow).  It’s only fitting since it’s Father’s Day, to share another card, in this case the card I made for Chris and I used this weeks Can You Case It? Sketch challenge as the inspiration for the card.

I started with Soft Suede cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and the Arrows Embossing Folder.  Next I added a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper that I sponged all over with Crumb Cake ink and then crumpled up in a ball and then flattened to add texture and then used a retired edgelit to cut the scallop detail on the edge.  I also wrapped a piece of Blackberry Bliss 5/8” Stitched Cotton Ribbon around the DSP.

For the main stamped image I used the Guy Greetings stamp set and stamped the words in Blackberry Bliss ink and the hats in Hello Honey ink and used Hello Honey cardstock for the base.  This was cut out with the Big Shot and the Circle Collection Framelits and then I punched out a circle for the mat using Soft Suede cardstock and the 2” Circle Punch and attached the whole thing to the cardfront with dimensionals.  The final touch was to add a Happy Father’s Day greeting and was stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink on Very Vanilla cardstock before being punched out with the Word Window Punch.

This stamp set is so great, we used it at a class on Friday and had so much fun with all the different images and coordinating greetings, it really is a must have!  The other design team members are sharing some great cards so go check them out for further inspiration and then come play along, we love to see what others create.

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge: A World of Father's Day Greetings

Good morning!  School is officially out (whoo hoo) and it’s time for some summer fun, starting with Father’s Day this weekend.  This is perfect timing and it should be a great weekend.  It’s Friday so I have a new Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge to share and since I’m having a Guys card class tonight I decided to use these sketch for one of our class cards (multitasking is always a wonderful thing!  I had fun mixing up some colors that I don’t usually use together to come up with this elegant card.

I started with Smoky Slate for the cardbase and then added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder.  Next I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut it out with the Oval Collection Framelits and then stamped with the World Map stamp in Cajun Craze ink and sponged all over with Smoky Slate ink.  I created a mat for the oval with a piece of Night of Navy cardstock and the same framelit set.  I used some Gold Foil Sheets, Big Shot, Circle Card Thinlit Die, and the Itty Bitty Star Punch to create some foil stars and attached them with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Guys Greetings stamp set and was stamped with Basic Black ink on Cajun Craze ink and I used the Ticket Duo Punch to trim the edges before attaching it with dimensionals as well.

This card is nice and simple but has some fun touches to help draw your eye and make you smile.  Plus this card was designed so it could easily be changed to a birthday card, etc. if the class attendees would like to use it for something other than a Father’s Day card.

Fab Friday Sketch Challenge: Guy Greetings

Good morning!  Today's the last day of school (Aidan is so excited!!) so we've been busy with all the end of year activities this week.  We're also getting ready for Father's Day this weekend so I decided to take a break and play along with this weeks  Fab Friday sketch challenge for a fun masculine card.  This sketch is nice and simple and I like the little strip accents (it's a perfect way to use up paper scraps if you have those around).

I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock and stamped the greeting from the Guy Greetings stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink.  I added two paper strips, one piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and Chevron Embossing Folder and a piece of Chocolate Chip Polka Dot paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.

For the main stamped image I used the tool stamp from the Guy Greetings stamp set and stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I wanted to add some texture to the image so I used one of the splatter stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and stamped in Crumb Cake ink (stamped off once so it's a little lighter) and then sponged around the edge with Mossy Meadow ink.  For a mat for the stamped image I used the Big Shot and new Tags & Labels Framelits and cut two pieces using Marina Mist cardstock to add decorative pieces peeking out of both sides.  I used dimensionals to attach this final layer to the cardfront and finalized it by adding a double bow using Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

I really like how this card turned out and this will be one of the cards we make at Friday's "All about the guys card class" and left the greeting more generic on the outside and then you and stamp the specific greeting on the inside, birthday, Father's Day, etc.  It's a great way to get ready for greetings for all the guys in your life.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Scrapbook Sketch Challenge: SSInkLS22

Good morning!  We survived the weekend and had a wonderful time at the BBQ but are still resting and recovering from all the fun.  It's the 3rd Monday of the month, which means over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's time for a scrapbook sketch challenge.  After finishing my 2013 ad 2014 albums I was excited to get started on this years book.  Unfortunately, with the retirement of My Digital Studio earlier this month, this is the last month I'll be using this software for sketch challenges.  I'm still planning on working on digital projects, including our albums but for personal use (love I still have access to all my downloads and projects to continue to enjoy).  We were given a fun challenge this month so I decided to start with a predesigned page layout and then changed it up to fit our challenge (I love the banner and colors on this page an didn't want to start from scratch with all the elements.

This page was from our visit to Hilton Head Island earlier this month, it was a great trip and I enjoyed reliving the fun looking through pictures.  This layout is great and would make a great projects for a décor item (perhaps for a Father's Day gift, graduation, etc.)  Make sure to check out the other design team creations and then come play along in the fun!

Can You Case it? Design Team - Sketch Challenge CYCI #74

Happy Sunday!  So we survived the BBQ and it was a lot of fun, now the recovery begins.  Looking forward to a little rest and stamping with the ladies this afternoon (there’s something about retreating to the cool studio on hot humid days that feels great!!)  Today it’s time for another edition of the Can You Case It? weekly challenge.  This week we’re changing things up and giving a theme and letting you see where it takes you, in this case SUMMER!!! I’ll admit, when I first saw this challenge I was very nervous since we don’t have any current summer themed sets that I own (in the past we’ve had some uber-cute sets that I still have in my stash but I’m resisting).  Instead I started to think about all the great things about summer and came up with this, out of the box idea.

I started with Tempting Turquoise cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White cardstock.  On this layer I did lots of stamping using the Work of Art stamp set.  I stamped the sand along the bottom using both Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake ink and stamped off on some of the images to get different levels of color.  I did the same thing for the sun using Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist, and So Saffron ink (I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to only ink part of the long narrow image for the sunbeams so they fit the page better).
I always think of ice cream for the summer so I took a small piece of Whisper White cardstock, used the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch on three of the corners and the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch on the last corner to look like a bites been taken out of the tasty treat.  Then I used the larger “swoosh” stamp and stamped using Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, and Real Red ink (also stamping off on the Real Red for a lighter top look).
The goals was to make this look like the classic ice cream treat (but realized later I had the white and red in the wrong order, oops!!)  I used a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and the Word Window Punch to make the stick and attached the frozen treat to the card with dimensionals.

The greeting is from the Celebrate Today stamp set and was stamped in Real Red Ink.  The final touch was to add some “birds” to the skyline and since I couldn’t find any suitably sized stamps I just drew simple ones in with a marker.

What do you think?  It’s a little out of the box for my usual style but it definitely conveys summer so I say, success.  I love the wide range of cards the other design team members are sharing so go check them out and then come play along for more summertime fun!

Sketch Frenzy Friday Sketch Challenge and SSINK Product Suite Focus: Bravo

Good morning!  Friday is here and it’s going to be a great weekend (other than the heat and humidity) since it’s time for our 8th Annual Neighborhood BBQ where we have between 80-100 of our friends and neighbors over for a great afternoon (really evening, early morning) time that we look forward to all year.  Of course there’s still a lot to do to get ready but Chris and & are also taking time out tonight for a date and are heading to the movies (without Aidan) so I’m excited.  The weekend is going to be capped off with a card class where we’re going to be making lots of cards for the guys in our lives (today is the last day to RSVP for the class so don’t miss out!!)  Before we get started with all the weekend activities since it’s Friday it’s time for this weeks Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and I decided to combine this one with the product focus (Cherry on Top Product Suite) over on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog.

I started with Crushed Curry cardstock and then added a piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the greeting from the Bravo stamp set using Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up the stamp.  Next I took a piece of Tip Top Toupe and attached three different patterns of the Cherry on Top DSP for the panels.  Before attaching this piece to the cardfront I added a piece of 1 ¼” Bermuda Bay Striped Grosgrain Ribbon for a flag.

For a fun accent I used the Boys will be Boys stamp set (I’ve been working on a lot of boy themed projects lately so all those sets are out on my desk) and stamped the legos in Tuxedo Black Momento Ink on Whisper White cardstock before coloring them in and punching them out with the 2” Circle Punch.  The final touch was to cut a mat using the 2 ½” Circle Punch and Watermelon Wonder cardstock and attaching this piece to the cardfront with dimensionals.

This card is fresh and fun (love the addition of the new colors along with some of our classics) and I’m thinking may be perfect to let a little student I know how proud we are of all his hard work this school year (less than a week to go!!)  The only think I don’t know is if this tips to the more feminine side with the addition of the Watermelon Wonder ink, what do you think?  I like this so much a version of this card will probably be one of our projects for Sunday’s class.  Make sure to check out the other design team members created for inspiration and then play along for some fun this weekend.

For the greeting I used the Guy Greetings stamp set and stamped it on Very Vanilla Cardstock with Cajun Craze ink and cut it out using the Big Shot and the Project Life Cards and Tags Framelits (these dies are awesome for tags!!!) and attached it to the cardfront with dimensionals for a final touch.
The mix of regal and neutral colors work great for masculine cards (I can’t wait for my first order from the new catalog to arrive tomorrow so I can get some new DSP’s to work with (love our designer paper and it really makes projects so much fun!!)

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Card Sketch: Guy Greetings

http://ssinkspiration.blogspot.com/2015/06/june-card-sketch-ssinkcs22.htmlHappy Monday!  It was a nice and relaxing weekend but I have to say I will be so happy when school gets out, Aidan was assigned one last major project so we spent most of Sunday working on the project (and no access to my computer for my tasks).  Thankfully Aidan's project is almost finished, we just have a little more to do.  Of course I did take some time to get into the studio and create, including my card for this month's Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration card sketch challenge.  I decided to get really crazy with things and combined the sketch challenge with the Fab Friday color challenge.  I'm in the frame of mind for guy cards with Father's Day coming up so I decided to take a more masculine take for this sketch and the colors work perfectly for this.
I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and stamped with the Woodgrain stamp set and then sponged around the edge with the same color ink.  Next I added a piece of Night of Navy cardstock as well as a piece of Hello Honey cardstock that was embossed with the Big Shot and ZigZag Embossing Folder.  Next I used the Guy Greetings stamp set and stamped the antique car image in Marina Mist Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut it out with the Big Shot and Circle Collection Framelits.  I sponged around the edge with Marina Mist ink and then matted the car with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch and Gold Foil Sheets.  I created a second mat using Night of Navy cardstock and the Starburst Framelits.

The greeting is from the same stamp set and was stamped with Night of Navy ink and cut out with the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits.  I also sponged around the edge of the label with Marina Mist ink.  I created a little accent piece behind the greeting by punching out a piece of Marina Mist cardstock and the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.  Of course I used dimensionals to attach the greeting to the cardfront.

I really like how this card turned out by combining both of these challenges and may have to remake this card and change up the greeting for a Father's Day card.  This months Just Cards Class is going to be "all about the guys" so we'll be making perfect cards for all the dude's in our lives, no matter the age and this will be one of the cards we make so make sure you don't miss out!
